This opportunity is for an undergraduate student or recent graduate in Commerce degree to gain valuable industry experience with the Korea New Zealand Business Council (KNZBC). This internship is a pilot programme partnering with Korean Commerce Student Association (KCom) at University of Auckland.
The successful applicant will support the work of the KNZBC by contributing to research, public events and social media initiatives under KNZBC's strategic plan. The internship is part time (5 hours per week) for eight weeks.
The period of the internship will cover some of the KNZBC's main events and projects of the year such as their AGM and a major research report launch event. The intern will be based in Auckland.

About KNZBC
The Korea New Zealand Business Council is a voluntary group of New Zealand companies, organisations and Government Agencies involved in promoting increased business between Korea and New Zealand. It provides information, useful networking opportunities for members and a forum for information and discussion of issues relevant to the commercial relationship between the two countries.
The KNZBC came into being in 1978, in association with the first-ever trade mission from New Zealand to the Republic of Korea.
The Council’s key strategies for this year is Revitalisation. The objectives follows:
Re-engage with key partners and strengthen the relationships with key stakeholders
Focus on both member groups of New Zealand businesses and Korean businesses in New Zealand
Increase the Council’s awareness in digital channels

What the intern will do
The intern will assist KNZBC to:
complete research and implement projects in specific workstreams according to area of study and interest
assist with the KNZBC 's public facing initiatives including offline events and online activities
contribute to the KNZBC's social media platforms and monitor social media trends
assist KNZBC to grow membership of the council
Who we're looking for
Ideal candidates will have a pre-existing interest in Asia and will aspire to develop their capacity for working in cross-cultural environments.
The successful intern will:
be adept in verbal and written communication skills
be capable of working effectively in a team environment
be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and tasks
be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
have interpersonal skills and be comfortable at networking events and activities
be adaptable, mature, reliable and resilient
be interested in pursuing a career involving South Korea and the wider Asian region.
Confidence in the Korean language while not a prerequisite would be an advantage.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be a member of Korea Commerce Student Association (KCom)
be New Zealand citizens or have New Zealand permanent resident status.
be in good health
be due to complete at least two years of tertiary study by November 2024 in business/trade, political studies, law or a related Commerce degree
be available to work in Auckland for the duration of the internship.
What's covered?
This is a paid internship based in Auckland. The selected intern will also receive annual membership for the KNZBC.
Expenses such as accommodation, flights to and from Auckland for those living outside of the region and access to a laptop are not covered
Management of the Internship
KNZBC committee will deliver pastoral care and support professional development in cultural competency. The intern will closely work with the Executive Director of the Council.
